These are just some of the adjectives we could fine to relay to you the true personhood of Dr. Helen J. Owens. Although she prefers the more general version, we wanted to be sure you at least got a glimpse of some of her splendor. ✨✨✨
Helen was the daughter of parents who were sharecroppers for the first twelve years of her life. However, they instilled in her a deep awareness of her ability to set and reach her own goals. It was at Lane College, from which she received the B.S. degree, that she found further assurances of her ability to be successful. Her education was furthered by earning a master’s degree from The University of Memphis, and further study at Trenton State College, and North Carolina State University for doctorate studies. She also met her husband and father of her four children, Dr. Robert G. Owens, at Lane College.
